Karen fell in love with dancing at age nine and took her dream from Erie, PA to New York City where she continued to dance and study English at Fordham University. Shortly, after graduation, at age 23 she unexpectedly became pregnant. Scared and confused, she let go of her dreams in New York City and moved back to Erie. Her situation reveled low self-esteem, self-doubt, and insecurities that needed attention and healing.
A couple months into her pregnancy she started doing yoga with Rodney Yee on VHS tapes. Her daily practice of yoga helped her discover the process of self-acceptance, gratitude, and love of the present moment.
Wanting to share the transforming powers of yoga that she discovered, Karen opened the first yoga studio in Pittsburgh, Amazing Yoga. Along with her husband Sean, they own Amazing Yoga in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, with three locations. Amazing Yoga has been voted best yoga studio by Pittsburgh Magazine numerous years. Karen is the author of the Amazon Best Seller Amazing Yoga (Autumn House Press, 2010) and lives in Pittsburgh with Sean and their four children.
Karen has been teaching for over 20 years. She trained extensively with Baron Baptiste and now teaches Amazing Yoga, meditation, yoga nidra, and Goddess retreats and workshops. She has shared her love of yoga with lawyers, Hollywood actors, doctors, and people from all walks of life. She has worked with professional sports teams including the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Penguins. Karen leads international teacher trainings and retreats and has recently given a Ted Talk about overcoming challenges, taking risks and pursuing dreams. Her mission is guiding others towards their passion, purpose and powerful presence in life.
